People have different ways of handling harsh criticisms — there are people who choose to stay silent and people who choose to fight back. For the actress Jessy Mendiola, she chose to transform the negative comments flung towards her into positive energy when she shutdown her body-shaming haters by posting series of sexy pictures on her Instagram account.
In case you weren’t aware, the actress recently revealed on her Instagram account that she suffered from depression following her victory as the sexiest woman by FHM Philippines in 2016.
“When I won FHM’s sexiest woman in 2016, I thought… Finally, people appreciate my efforts and my body. But I was wrong.”
“I was bullied, body shamed with bashers calling me names like ‘pata, baboy, taba, etc.’ while others said I didn’t deserve to win the title cos I’m waaaaaay bigger than the other girls who they thought should’ve won”
According to her, she was deeply wounded by the cyberbullying she received, which later led her to lose her confidence.
“I felt really down and started losing my confidence. I loved myself then (big thighs, belly rolls and round face) but when people started pointing out my flaws, I started hating myself, at times even thinking I was a bad person for having ‘thunder thighs.”
She also confessed that even her acting career was affected.
“I stopped working out, I got depressed, binge ate my feelings off and started gaining more weight than I should. I didn’t even want to be seen on TV anymore, I started turning down roles and it affected my work.”
As of now, the 25-year-old actress is now getting back in shape. As you noticed, she is becoming sexier with every new post on her Instagram account.
