A 43-year-old Chinese doctor reportedly died after she suddenly collapsed in front of her patient. Reports suggested that the Chinese doctor dies after working 18 hours non-stop.
Dr. Zhao Bianxiang from the Shanxi Province was said to have collapsed in her patient’s ward on December 29 before she was taken to the emergency room.
The heartbreaking photos showed the elderly mother and father of the Chinese doctor seeing her in the ward for the last time.
Dr. Zhao was pronounced dead on the morning of December 30 after her colleagues have failed to save her life.
Dr. Zhao worked at the Department of Respiratory Care at the Yuci District Hospital in Jinzhong. A colleague of the doctor told in a newspaper article that she started working at 6 pm on December 28 and finished seeing her outpatients at around midnight before starting checking the hospital wards.
Soon, she passed out in front of one of her patients.
The colleague said: “In winter, the departments of pediatrics and respiratory care have the most patients.
“Often times, doctors couldn’t finish work on time because they are too busy. In addition, the Department of Respiratory Care had some extra tasks recently.
“Dr. Zhao was really too tired.”
According to a local journalist who was identified as Ma Xiaoma who as at the hospital when Dr. Zhao passed away, the Chinese doctor was checking a patient in the ward when she suddenly lost consciousness.
it is stated that Dr. Zhao’s heart rate suddenly dropped after she fell to the floor and was taken to the intensive care unit.
The experts from the hospital were also alerted and were asked to save Dr. Zhao, but she failed to make it.
It was then when they realized how workaholic Dr. Zhao is.
“No matter if she was on or not, as long as someone asked her for help, she never declined,” said the colleague.
Photos and videos provided by the journalist and her colleagues showed how the parents of the Chinese doctor breaking down in tear when they were finally allowed to see their daughter.
After 20 hours of resuscitation, Dr. Zhao’s colleagues failed to save her.
Further reports stated that nearly 600,000 Chinese workers are dying from exhaustion each year.
